Mary B. Ksenich (nee Seman), age 86, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake following a short illness surrounded by the love and presence of her family.
She was born on October 4, 1924 in Cleveland to Steve and Anna (nee Mitro) Seman. She moved to Lorain after marrying her husband, George, in 1953.
During World War II, Mary was a “Rosie the Riveter”doing factory work. While living in Lorain, she worked as a waitress at Heilman’s Restaurant. When Southview High School opened in 1969, she began working there in the snack bar at the cafeteria there. She retired in 1985.
She enjoyed crocheting and doing needle point, and bowled in league bowling for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching classic movies. A proud grandmother, she found much enjoyment in spending time with her grandsons.
She is survived by her sons, George (Gail), of Amherst and Howard (Fran), of Lorain, his daughters, Pamela Ksenich, of Lorain and Debora Ksenich, of LaGrange; 3 grandsons, George, Gannon and Dan.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George on October 10, 2010; her brothers, Steve, Albert and John Seman and her sisters, Anna Seman and Barbara Curtan.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 2:00 -4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, where a Parastas service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Panachida will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 2711 West 40th St., Lorain. Fr. Dennis Hrubiak will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
