Gary E. Blackburn, age 57, of South Amherst, passed away, Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at his home after a short illness.

Gary was born on August 9, 1953 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Junior and Louise (nee Davis) Blackburn.
He was a 1972 graduate of South Amherst High School. He spent 11 years in St. Cloud, Florida and returned back to Ohio in 2002.
He was self-employed and extremely hard working. He owned several businesses such as a cleaning service and a private investigation business. He most recently worked as a truck driver, retiring on December 31, 2010 after 15 years of service.
He enjoyed fishing and being an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Oberlin.
Gary is survived by his daughters, Suzzette (Brent) Meredith, of Essexville, Michigan and Tori Blackburn, of South Amherst; grandson, Brandon Meredith; sisters, Michelle Montgomery, of Wakeman and Debbie Boyd, of Wellington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Patty Jean Blackburn and Carolyn Johnson.
The Blackburn Family will receive family and friends on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12:15 p.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Bill Hall, of Crossroads Baptist Church, Oberlin and Brent Mitchell. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
